Which one to pick
- For a highball: Suntory Toki. Light and fresh, made for soda and lots of ice.
- Soft and sweet: The Chita, a single grain whisky from Suntory's Chita distillery.
- Fresh single malt: Hakushu Distiller's Reserve, from Suntory's mountain forest distillery. Green, citrusy and lightly smoky.
- Big and bold: Nikka From the Barrel, bottled at 51.4%. A drop of water opens it up.
How to drink Japanese whisky
The classic serve is the highball: 50ml whisky over lots of ice, topped with cold soda water and a twist of lemon. The stronger bottles are good neat with a drop of water, or over one large ice cube.
