Crisp highland blanco from one of tequila's most famous names. A brilliant margarita base.

We stock Don Julio Blanco because it's a reliable, clean highland tequila that everyone recognises. Bright citrus and agave make it perfect for margaritas and palomas. It's a bottle most guests will recognise, which makes it a safe choice for a party.

Tastes like: fresh agave, lemon, grapefruit and black pepper.

How to drink it:

  • Margarita: 50ml Don Julio Blanco, 25ml Cointreau and 25ml fresh lime juice, shaken hard with ice and served with a salt rim
  • Paloma: 50ml Don Julio Blanco over ice, topped with grapefruit soda, a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt
  • Tequila soda: 50ml over ice, topped with soda and a squeeze of lime

For the agave nerds
  • Made by: La Primavera distillery, founded by Don Julio González in 1942 in the highlands of Jalisco.
  • Agave: 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested at 5 to 7 years old.
  • Cooking and extraction: Piñas steamed in traditional masonry ovens for about 48 hours, then milled to release the sweet juice.
  • Fermentation: A house yeast strain, for about 26 hours.
  • Still: Double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with copper.
  • Ageing: Unaged.

Why it tastes like this: Steaming the agave slowly in masonry ovens keeps it sweet and clean. The longer a bottle sits in ex-bourbon oak, the more vanilla, caramel and toasted wood it picks up.
