Don Julio rested eight months in American oak. One of our most popular tequilas.

We stock Don Julio Reposado because it's a firm favourite at the bar and the till. It's smooth and rounded with chocolate and cinnamon, and easy to sip on ice. It also makes a fantastic, rounded margarita, and it's a popular gift.

Tastes like: dark chocolate, cinnamon, caramel and cooked agave.

How to drink it:

  • On the rocks: 50ml Don Julio Reposado over one large ice cube with a twist of orange peel
  • Margarita: 50ml Don Julio Reposado, 25ml Cointreau and 25ml fresh lime juice, shaken hard with ice and served with a salt rim
  • With a slice of orange dusted with cinnamon

For the agave nerds
  • Made by: La Primavera distillery, founded by Don Julio González in 1942 in the highlands of Jalisco.
  • Agave: 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested at 5 to 7 years old.
  • Cooking and extraction: Piñas steamed in traditional masonry ovens for about 48 hours, then milled to release the sweet juice.
  • Fermentation: A house yeast strain, for about 26 hours.
  • Still: Double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with copper.
  • Ageing: At least 8 months in ex-bourbon American white oak casks.

Why it tastes like this: Steaming the agave slowly in masonry ovens keeps it sweet and clean. The longer a bottle sits in ex-bourbon oak, the more vanilla, caramel and toasted wood it picks up.
