We stock Hennessy VS because it's the cognac our customers drink most, at the bar and at home. It's lively and fruity with a little oak, perfect with ginger ale. Ask us about D'USSÉ or L'Extase if you fancy a change. It's the right bottle for a party.
Tastes like: grilled almonds, ripe fruit, vanilla and fresh oak.
How to drink it:
- With ginger ale: 50ml Hennessy VS over ice, topped with ginger ale and a slice of orange
- With cola: 50ml Hennessy VS over ice, topped with cola and a squeeze of lime
- Sidecar: 50ml Hennessy VS, 20ml Cointreau and 20ml fresh lemon juice, shaken with ice and strained

For the cognac nerds
- Made from: Ugni Blanc grapes from the Cognac region, which is divided into six crus.
- Still: Double distilled in traditional Charentais copper stills. Only the heart of the second run is kept.
- Selection: The Hennessy Tasting Committee meets every day at 11am to choose or reject eaux-de-vie.
- People: Master Blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, the eighth generation of the Fillioux family to blend for Hennessy.
- Ageing: Matured in new oak barrels.
Why it tastes like this: Cognac gets its fruit from the grapes and the copper stills, and its vanilla and spice from years in oak. The blender's job is to make it taste the same every year. New oak is why VS is so bold and spicy.
