Make it a rum cocktail

Fifteen-year-old Demerara rum: deep, rich and a big step up in complexity.
We stock the 15 because it's the bottle where El Dorado gets serious. Older rums from the wooden stills bring coffee, leather and spice. A beautiful birthday or thank-you gift. It's also one of the best ways to taste the character of Guyana's historic wooden stills.
Tastes like: coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruit, leather and spice.
How to drink it:
- Neat: pour 35ml of El Dorado 15 into a tumbler, let it sit for a minute, then add a drop of water if you like
- With a few drops of water
- After dinner, with a cheeseboard or dessert

For the rum nerds
- Made by: Demerara Distillers Ltd, Plantation Diamond, East Bank Demerara, Guyana.
- Made from: Molasses.
- Fermentation: Up to 26 hours, giving a wash of about 7% ABV.
- Still: The original wooden heritage stills are still in use, alongside newer stills.
- Age: 15 years in oak barrels, in the Demerara climate.
- The stills in this blend: Marques from the EHP Wooden Coffey, the Metal Coffey, the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still and the Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still. Port Mourant gives "an earthy, peat-like finish".
- Blending: A blend of rums from different stills, put together by the Master Blenders once aged.
Why it tastes like this: Wooden stills are rare anywhere in the world, and they give Guyana's rum its heavy, rich character. The older bottles lean on the pot stills, which is where the dark, earthy depth comes from.
