Monin's grenadine. The red in a Tequila Sunrise and a classic rum punch.
Grenadine is a bar staple, and a splash is what gives a rum punch its colour. Monin's is made from mixed berry juice, so it tastes of fruit, not just sugar. A little goes a long way.
Tastes like: red berries, raspberry and blackcurrant, with a subtle vanilla note.
How to drink it:
- Tequila Sunrise: 50ml tequila and orange juice over ice, with 15ml grenadine poured in last so it sinks
- Rum punch: 10–15ml in your punch for colour and sweetness
- Shirley Temple: 15ml with lemonade and a squeeze of lime

Made by Monin, a French family firm founded in Bourges in 1912. Its grenadine is made from a blend of mixed berry juice, including raspberries and blackcurrants.
